Human Motion Presence Sensor
This responds much quicker to motion than the several PIR based motion sensors I have.. can't comment much on the ability to detect breathing yet, haven't had it long enough.
I'm using this radar presence detector in the kitchen and the amount of customization is the best of the several I've had. Unlike simpler PIR light switches, this won't turn lights off when someone is in the kitchen standing still. I use smart actions to turn light on full brightness during the day, and dim at night. Familiarity with smart actions is necessary to set this up to control a light (as well as a smart bulb/plug).Smart actions can trigger based on presence or vacancy (with optional settable delay), illumination level in room, or a more detailed state (no presence, stationary presence, small movements, large movements). Smart actions can't configure everything, just large motion distance and sensitivity, and delay time for changes.Illumination sensor is useful for smart actions to adjust lighting to complement outside light. It is sensitive, detecting even just the glow of a monitor in a dark room.Radar allows detailed configuration to fine-tune proper detection. It first waits for large movement before it considers there to be presence, then enables detection of small movements and motionless occupation. If these aren't present for a settable time, status switches back to no presence. Each type of movement (large, small, stationary) has a settable distance and sensitivity. There are presets for various room types, and main device page shows current detection type which helps a LOT when fine-tuning them, to know what type of motion it's detecting.Tuya/Smart Life app support is good, and important because so many other devices use this app platform so this can control those devices.
This small mmWave presence sensor needs to be constantly powered via usb-c. It does work well in the Tuya / Smart Life apps, where there are a few parameters you can tune for sensitivity. In general, mmWave works better for presence sensing than passive infrared motion sensors. This type of sensor is great for detecting still presence such as sitting on a couch or laying in bed, in addition to motion.
Basic parameters like time until clear and how many activations it takes to "verify" presence can only be configured directly in Tuya/SmartLife app itself but there is full access to radar sensitivity settings and occupancy status using the official Tuya integration in HA. It also integrates with Alexa using the Tuya skill. Of course if you are using this as it was designed - strictly using the Tuya/SmartLife app there are many more settings available. It is using a very sensitive 24Ghz mmwave module which allows it to pick up minor motion such as breathing from the other side of the room and you can adjust for close and far object detection so you can even ceiling mount for fall detection or eliminating certain zones from detection. The SmartLife app has several detection area presets such as "kitchen" or "washroom" for quick and easy settings and manual mode for more control. Lots to like about this sensor and their SmartLife App integration has more customizable settings to play with than every other mmWave presence sensor I have used and they took the time to make it usable for non-geeks as well. Highly recommended.
This is a great little device - Instead of a PIR sensor that requires contestant motion, this device will track your presence even if you are stationary (like if you are sitting down or just standing still). It is a great improvement for home automations (so the light won't turn off on you while you are still in the room!).Works with the Tuya app and has a lot of features you can control (like distance and false detection) it also has a lux sensor so you can check how much light is in the room (again for automations). If you plan on connecting this to Home Assistant be aware that although the Presence sensor works great, the lux sensor is missing from HA (not a big deal for me)
